Sorry I've been flaky a bit recently! I have tunes for today, though!
Yo-Yo Ma, "Suite for Solo Cello, 2 in D Minor, BWV 1008: VI. Gigue"
Nope, still don't know nothin'. Nice to listen to, though.
Fake Limbs, "Stugots II"
What is this? I like this a lot! I don't remember getting this! I suspect it must have been in a year-end round up last year, and I spaced listening to it. This sounds like it's from Chicago. (looks) Yes, it's from Chicago. Hell yes. I know what I'm listening to when I'm done here.
Booker T. and the MGs, "Get Ready"
One thing that Booker T. and the MGs did a bunch of was put a bunch of covers on their albums, something that is a lot less common these days. This is a cover of the great Temptations song, and it's as sunny to listen to in this version as the original.
Shabazz Palaces, "Ishmael"
From the great Seattle hip-hop act, we've got a track from their tremendous album Lese Majesty. It's a little hard to describe them, as they're really operating on their entirely own wavelength. But their spacey, strange jams are just wonderful.
Zeni Geva, "I Want You"
Long running Japanese experimental metal band Zeni Geva was one of the heaviest acts going while they were active in the early to mid 90s. They were super prolific, and embraced noise as well as the Melvins in their sound.
Also, this sounds pretty badass running on the top of that Yo-Yo Ma piece up above, which is what I got as I assembled the playlist.
