Logic, "YSIV"

There are a bunch of long songs on YSIV (Young Sinatra 4), but I'm not sure that it totally works for me. Goodness knows I don't have a problem with long songs in general, but I really kind of want more evolution over the course of a track than this exhibits.

christian fitness, "Endless North London Police Helicopter"

See, now, this makes a point. Bellow through a bullhorn, pound away with some bass and drums, get the point across. Done.

Cloud Nothings, "Baur's Woods"

The intro to this song reminds me so much of another song that I can't put my finger on, it's driving me absolutely crazy. Dammit! Now I'm going to have to stare at my library until I can figure it out.

[time passes]

Oh, oh, I got it! I replayed it far enough into my head to get to the chorus, it's "That's When I Reach For My Revolver"!

Anyway, it diverges after the intro, so I'm not sure what my point was here, other than "Let's Remember Some Post-Punk".

Cretin, "It"

I love calling myself a "cretin". It's such a fine word, so dismissive. Try it out!

No, don't call ME a cretin!

Vampire Weekend, "My Mistake"

On Father of the Bride, Vampire Weekend was now wholly Ezra Koenig's band. Rostam Batmanglij left after Modern Vampires of the City, and so the artistic partnership that had driven the band to that point was gone. And I have to say, I don't like it nearly as much as the records with Rostam involved. It's not bad, but it just doesn't quite have a spark for me.
