The Roots, "Becoming Unwritten"

Rising Down is fantastic. But this song is just an interstitial thing.

Army of Juan, "Chicken"

We're deep into Moon Ska's bench here with this band, who released one album in 1997 and then disappeared. It never caught on with me particularly, and I've never heard anybody else mention it, so thank you for bringing this one up, shuffle.

MU330, "Ireland"

MU330, meanwhile, might be obscure today but at least put out multiple albums and I have actually seen them brought up by someone who isn't me. This comes from Crab Rangoon, which was released right in the middle of their career, and is probably their best record.

DJ Muggs & Roc Marciano, "Kaos Theme"

DJ Muggs, venerable DJ for Cypress Hill and a bunch of other acts, teamed up in 2018 with veteran MC Roc Marciano for the very fun Kaos. While both are far enough into their careers that they could have mailed it in, they are in top form here, and this was one of the best rap releases of 2018. I wish we could have gotten Marciano on this track, but maybe we'll get him soon.

Helmet, "Give It"

For a lot of songs or albums, you'll get an indelible memory attached to it. A significant moment, a great concert, a personal interaction will stick with you. For this song? What pops into my head is vacuuming the hall in my mom's house one time. No, I do not know why. No, there was nothing in particular that happened. I do remember that I was blasting this album really loud, nobody was around, and I was vacuuming. Uh, that's it.
