Bullfrog, "Mark After Dark"

We've had Bullfrog here before, but as a reminder, this is one of Kid Koala's many projects. Most of their album is pretty straight ahead funk, but they mix in some other stuff, such as the tune here which closes the album.

The Meters, "Running Fast"

Hell yeah, Meters! Fire On the Bayou is the last essential Meters record, as it was followed by a poor disco record and an OK funk record. While I tend to prefer their earlier, non-vocal stuff, this is still a great record.

P. Miles Bryson, "Obsessions in Tiger-Skin Taffeta"

I'm not sure if there's a genre name for this kind of thing. It's of a piece with the more musical stuff from Negativland, and John Oswald, and that sort of avant-garde kind of thing. Sort of the same sort of pastiche stuff as the Avalanches, but...less musical. I don't know. I mean, it's musique concrète, but nobody really uses that term.

Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators, "One In A Million"

Today is shaping up pretty sweet! Feeling good about randomness again! This is a great blog concept!

The Beastie Boys, "The New Style"

Honestly, I thought we were going to get something unlistenable here. Good work tonight, y'all! I've always loved the chorus ("chorus"?) on this song so much. That break, especially the scratching, has always stuck with me.
