I never write checks, so this blog is the only thing that I write the wrong year on after the calendar filps over.

Marvin Gaye, "I Heard It Through the Grapevine"

A stone-cold classic.

Polyrhythmics, "Cosimo"

A lovely EP from 2020, Fondue Party continues a string of winners from Polyrhythmics. That sax solo is delicious, I love that they gave it so much space.

Dr. Dre, "Still D.R.E."

Damn, this album turned 20 today. I still think of it as the "new" Dre release. And there's been a more recent Dre record!

Otis Redding, "Try A Little Tenderness"

Not a whole lot I can say about it when shuffle is just throwing all-timers out there for us.

De La Soul, "The Future"

This is the opener to The Grind Date, the best album that De La Soul made after Stakes is High. The Art Official Intelligence records were tied down by their concept, and were not all that good as a result. After abandoning the concept and dumping the third record in the series, De La Soul just settled down to make a great record. They lined up some top producers and pretty much just killed it.
