matt pond PA, "Measure 3"

I ran out of interesting (?) things to say about matt pond PA a couple tracks ago. So, as per the standard Five Songs Style Guide, that gives me license to just blather here.

...

Turns out I don't have anything interesting to say that's not about matt pond PA either. Oh! The new Belle and Sebastian is pretty good! That's almost relevant to this band.

Naked City, "Torture Garden"

I have successfully cleared multiple parties with this record. Which is a shame, because a Naked City party seems like it would be a very good time.

Presidents of the United States of America, "Good Morning Tycoon"

After a six year hiatus, during which Chris Ballew started cranking out kids' records under the name Caspar Babypants, the Presidents got back in the studio just to see if they had another record in them. They did, as it turns out, which isn't a surprise given how prolific of a songwriter Ballew is. As with all Presidents albums, it's feathery light but always charming. It's a solid entry in their catalog.

The Jesus Lizard, "Tight n' Shiny"

The Jesus Lizard came roaring out of the gate fully formed, with Head being an excellent album that immediately established them as one of the best rock bands around. It's probably not that big of a surprise, though, given that this wasn't the first band for most of the guys in it.

Torche, "Loose Men"

I've said it before, but Torche is really pop rock, played extremely loudly and heavily. But if you compare this song with that Presidents song up above, they differ more in timbre than they do in structure.
